My Story
As a kid, I had this tendency to reset any game I was playing. It drove my friends nuts, especially my younger brother. I’d hit that reset button so fast, without a pause in the world. But what my brother doesn’t get, even today, is that it wasn’t really about losing. I could handle that.
The real crime? I was bored. I grew bored with the game, so I did the most natural thing and started over.
Twenty years later, I did it again. But this time with with my life.
I was a Senior Account Executive at a big media company in Washington, DC. I was good at it. In fact, I was the top biller for a few of those years. You could even say I was winning, but my boredom doesn’t pick sides.
I hit reset.
Today, I’m a copywriter, and while this career has stirred up every emotion inside me, I’m happy to report that my ennui has been defeated at last.
Being a copywriter consumes me to the point that my boredom doesn’t dare to act up. Every project finds a way to keep challenging me and makes me want to keep playing, no matter if I win or lose.
